Description

Adult -- female approximately 5 mm wide; circular, strongly raised, reddish to dark brown body; tortoise-like, but double hump.

Importance

Severe infestations may result in branch dieback; death uncommon.

Signs of Infestation
Foliage discoloration and branch dieback. Clumped swellings- the scales - on branches or twigs.
Control
Promote tree vigor and health. Use an approved insecticide for high-value trees or high scale populations.
